Benzene demand in USA rises as downstream unit returns from maintenance

Amid a restart of a downstream styrene unit, US benzene demand improved 4,290 bpd week on week to 119,760 bpd in the week that ended June 26, according to Platts analysis. LyondellBasell's Channelview, Texas, propylene oxide-styrene monomer unit restarted after a six-week turnaround in mid-June, sources said. Domestic benzene demand is likely to reach 140,820 bpd in the next two weeks when another downstream styrene monomer unit restarts after a turnaround.
