A strong explosion followed by a fire at an Ethylene-Polyethylene plant (EPP), which is part of the state-run company AzerChemistry, halted operations at several petrochemical enterprises in Sumgait, Azerbaijan.
The blast occurred late on Wednesday night, when a compressor burst in one of the EPP workshops resulted in a spillout of about half a ton of oil that subsequently caught fire. No one has been reported killed or injured in the incident. Emergency officials at the scene have said the fire has been "localized." The restart could take almost one month
