Borouge Two awards four contracts

Borouge's proposed world scale petrochemical complex in Ruwais, Borouge Two has awarded four major contracts. Borouge Two is a multi-billion dollar project - one of the largest petrochemical projects in the Middle East, and will production capacity expand from its 2005 capacity of 600,000 metric tons to two million tpa of enhanced Polyolefins. The new capacity will comprise one 540,000 metric tpa Borstar technology enhanced polyethylene unit and two 400,000 metric tpa Borstar polypropylene units and will be located next to Borouge's existing petrochemical complex in Ruwais and is expected to be completed in 2010. ABB Lummus Global Inc has been awarded the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for the 752,000 metric tonnes Olefins Conversion Unit (OCU) - the world's largest. This OCU FEED is expected to take approximately 32-weeks and will be executed by the ABB team in Houston (US). Fluor Mideast Ltd. has been awarded the FEED for the Polyolefin units which is expected to take approximately 40 weeks. MWH was awarded a mandate to carry out the study of Health, Safety & Environment Impact Assessments (HSEIA) for the facilities and the lenders. The first phase is expected to be complete by September 2006. Maersk Logistics was shortlisted as a supply chain study consultant to advise on the supply chain concept for Borouge Two products.
