A legal battle between the two promoters of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd started in August 2005 when The Chatterjee Group (TCG) went to CLB against the preferential allotment of HPL equity to Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
The two promoters of HPL, TCG and the government of West Bengal seem to be nearing a truce. The next hearing of the Company Law Board, scheduled for for November 21, has been deferred, indicating an attempt at a truce.
This process has been initiated by TCG chief Purnendu Chatterjee's speculated discussion with West Bengal's industry minister on issues relating to the settlement of the dispute in HPL.
