State owned Gail India Ltd. has lined up investments of over Rs 11,600 for various gas cracker units across the country. GAIL is in talks with international oil and gas giants to partner two of its proposed petrochemical complexes at Kerala and Orissa. The project in Kerala is being planned as a 4,00,000 tpa integrated grassroots petrochemical complex with C2C3 project at Ambalamugal near Kochi, using LNG as feedstock. GAIL is in the process of appointing project management consultants for the Kochi petrochemical complex, estimated to be on stream by end of 2009. GAIL has also earmarked investments worth over Rs 15,000 crore in Orissa, which includes setting up of a mega petrochemicals complex at cost of over Rs 5,000 crore. Will the PSU rope in China's largest energy and chemicals company, Sinopec as a partner in one of its proposed petrochemical units?
