Gloucester Engineering's 5-layer agricultural stretch line bought by Sigma Stretch Film

Sigma Stretch Film, a division of Sigma Plastics Group (US), has purchased Gloucester Engineering's first 5-layer agricultural stretch line for their plant in Canada. This line is scheduled to be shipped in October 2009 and producing film by end of the year. This line is slated to be the fifth Gloucester stretch film line in this plant and the largest agricultural stretch film line in North America. Combined with their four US plants, Sigma Stretch Film -- one of largest film and sheet manufacturers in North America -- will have a nameplate capacity exceeding 500 mln pounds. Sigma reportedly chose GEC's 5 layer technology based on their proven experience and innovative technology in the agricultural stretch film market. The 5-layer will allow Sigma to increase the nutritional value of the silage by providing the proper balance of water vapor transmission and gas barrier. GEC's 5-layer technology is also said to offer flexibility in raw materials, the capability to provide for different tack levels on the inside/outside, enhanced capability to influence PIB migration and faster changeover times with its encapsulated feeds die technology.
