GNFC subsidiary plans to invest Rs 1,100 cr for TDI plant

Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers (GNFC) plans a mega investment of Rs 1,100 crore to set up a touline di-isocyanate (TDI) plant under its soon to be merged subsidiary Narmada Chematur. GNFC is considering the TDI plant with a 50,000 ton capacity, an aromatic di-isocyanate for reaction with polyols to form polyurethanes. The process to merge Narmada Chematur into GNFC is underway. GNFC may also announce an investment of Rs 140 crore investment plan to set up methane production facilities. Earlier, GNFC had signed an MoU with the state government to revamp its methanol plant and synthesize the gas generation unit. GNFC has also initiated talks with US-based Lyondell to set up a JV to manufacture acetic acid.
