According to Assocomaplast- the Italian Plastics and Rubber Processing Machinery and Moulds Manufacturers’ Association Italian exports of plastics and rubber machinery in the first semester of 2009, decreased by 32% in value terms as compared to the same period of last year. Interestingly, Italy’s main competitor in this sector; the German manufacturers, recorded an even worse drop of 37%. A 4% growth in exports was reported in the April/June 2009 period with respect to the previous quarter and a 6% positive trend of the monthly exports in June with respect to January.
The figures highlight Stability of some of the main destination countries of Italian exports in H1-09 as compared to H1-08. A 28% increase in sales was recorded towards Benelux (9th market in the ranking), a 6.1% increase to Turkey (7th country), a 9.3% increase towards Mexico (10th) and, a below-average decrease to Germany.
