Japan's Mitsubishi Chem plans naphtha cracker maintenance shutdown

Mitsubishi Chemical Corp., Japan's petrochemicals maker plans to shut one naphtha cracker for about 40 days of planned maintenance in 2006. The No.1 unit, at its Kashima plant, with a 375,000 tpa ethylene capacity, will be shut from May 10 to June 21. Mitsubishi does not plan to shutdown its other two crackers including the 453,000 ta No. 2 unit at Kashima and the 450,000 tpa unit at its Mizushima plant in western Japan.
