The proposal of the West Bengal government to set up a mega chemical hub in Haldia, supported by IOC and Mitsubishi Chemicals has been approved by the Union government. Mitsubishi's expansion of its PTA plant has helped the state to garner the Centre's nod to host the country's first Mega Chemical Industrial Hub in Haldia.
The Chief Minister of the state has offered the company to take over Meendwip, close to Haldia and turn it into a Japanese city.
