Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical Corp has bought 80,000 tons of open-spec naphtha grade for H1-August delivery to Mailiao, at a discount of close to US$4.5/ton to Japan quotes on a cost-and-freight (C&F) basis, versus flat to a slight premium paid a week earlier, as per traders in Reuters.
Formosa operates three naphtha crackers with a total capacity of 2.93 mln tpa. The smallest of the crackers, a 700,000 tpa, is under a 45-day maintenance since the second week of June.
