US petrochemical producer OxyChem has suffered a production upset at its vinyls facility in La Porte, Texas,at the end of last week, as per market sources in Platts. As a result, the company has been forced to substantially reduce run rates, leading to rescheduling of domestic deliveries and a cutback in export volumes.
OxyChem's La Porte complex has 1,250,000 tpa of vinyl chloride monomer production capacity. VCM is an intermediate material that is later transformed into PVC.
