13-Nov-08
Japan's Sekisui Plastics Co Ltd has unveiled a thermoformable reflector plate made with polypropylene resin laminated foam sheet, according to report published by Nikkei Business Publication. Sekisui's new reflector plate named Reftelas can be employed in LCD TV backlights, electric billboards and other products which use light emitting devices. The company plans to commercialize on a complete scale its new thermoformable reflector plate by adding a new capacity of 1000 tpa in addition to its pilot plant of 240 tpa whichit will use for conducting test sales. Relative to other plastics-based reflectors, the sheet which uses company's proprietary lamination structure has a high diffuse reflectivity, excellent rigidity and foaming property while having a possibility to have a desired shape by thermoforming since it is not manufactured by a cross-linking process or drawing method.
