Light, sweet crude rose to US$47.30 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange and in London, Brent for April delivery was higher at US$45.48 on the International Petroleum Exchange. Crude oil prices rose amid thin volumes as the market looked for new direction.
All eyes are towards Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries' plans for Q2-2005. OPEC did not make any production cuts at its last meeting in Vienna on Jan. 30, but said changes were possible before its next meeting on March 16.
