Workers at South Korea's Yeochun Naphtha Cracking Center (YNCC) ended their 3 week long strike and returned to work. The strike was centered on a dispute over incentives.
Operations at three crackers at YNCC were not impacted, as in-house engineers were roped in to keep them running. No. 2 and No. 3 crackers, with a total nameplate capacity of more than 950,000 metric tpa, were running normally during the strike, as the 510,000 tpa No. 1 cracker went ahead with maintenance and expansion work as scheduled Oct. 10 for more than 60 days. The expansion work will increase its annual nameplate capacity by 300,000-350,000 tpa to 810, 000-860,000 tpa.
