The petrochemical arm of South Korea's Lotte Group - KP Chemical Co. has acquired a controlling stake in Pakistan PTA Ltd. 75% stake in the Pakistani company was bought over from Dutch company ICI Omicron B.V. Stake is being planned to be increased by an additional 15% through a tender offer. Pakistan PTA produces 500,000 tons of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) tpa, with sales estimated at US$470 million last year.
