Petron to shut refinery for maintenance month earlier than scheduled

In a move that will position it to benefit from market improvements projected to initiate in Q1-09, Philippines' biggest oil refiner - Petron Corp. will shut down its refinery for a one month long maintenance in December, a month prior to the scheduled shutdown. The shutdown will allow the earlier tie-in of Petron's petrochemicals unit to its catalytic regenerator. The tie-in, originally scheduled for March 2009, is expected to be completed in February.
