The markets for plastic pipe are growing as economies develop and traditional materials are replaced. Pressure applications (primarily the water and gas industries) have benefited from the additional properties that plastics offer such as increased flexibility, chemical and abrasion resistance.
Applied Market Information has gathered experts from the pipe industry to discuss the latest developments in Plastic Pressure Pipes. The conference takes place from 25-27 June 2007 at the Swissôtel in Düsseldorf, Germany. AMI will give the opening address on the prospects for pressure pipes and this is followed by Polyplastic discussing the pipe markets in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
There is a keynote paper on pipe material selection for the gas industry from the Philadelphia Gas Works, and Arkema will be outlining its experience in using polyamide-11 in North American gas applications. Water pipes will be discussed by several speakers including Borealis on cost comparisons for water mains, and Basell on polybutene-1. Colson will outline the use of CPVC in industrial pipes with SolVin on methods of connecting PVC pipes. Frank & Krah Wickelrohr will give a presentation on the properties and applications of its tangential extruded PE pipes and Rollepaal will talk about pipe extrusion technology.
The integrity of pipe joints is critical in pressure applications. Sica SpA is presenting work on belling methods of joining pipes to reduce costs. High pressure pipe fusing technology is covered by McElroy Manufacturing. Agru Kunststofftechnik has researched slow crack growth resistance of materials in electro socket fusion welds. Jana Laboratories has been testing pipe fitting materials for slow crack growth resistance.
Ulrich Schulte will give the opening address on the last day, with a paper on 50 years of experience with HDPE pipes. Ineos Polyolefins has new PE100 materials with improved stress cracking resistance. Total Petrochemicals Research has new low sagging PE100 for thick wall pressure pipes. Cabot Carbon will illustrate the weathering resistance properties of black pipes.
High pressure pipe technology is examined in the last session. Ube has been testing PA12 for natural gas applications and Kiwa Gastec Technology has been examining the methane permeability of a range of high performance thermoplastic and composite materials. Krauss-Maffei Kunststofftechnik will talk about composite pipes. 3M - Dyneon has new additives to improve extrusion processing of high pressure PE materials.
The conference provides an excellent opportunity to network with pipe experts and to discuss the commercial and technical issues facing the industry.
Plastic Pressure Pipes 2007 takes place 25-27 June at the Swissôtel in Düsseldorf, Germany. Discounted early bird registration is available until 23rd May 2007
