Qatar Petroleum and US firm Chevron Phillips Chemical have signed a JV for a US$ 800 million petrochem project. The project, to be built in the Mesaleed industrial city, includes the ownership of a new 350,000 tpa polythylene plant and a 345,000 tpa normal alpha olefins plant.
The engineering, procurement and construction contract for the two plants was awarded to Italy's Technimont and South Korea's Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company. Technip France has been selected for the engineering, procurement and construction for the ethylene cracker.
