Qatar Chemical Company II Ltd. is planning to build an ethylene cracker in Ras Laffan, Qatar, to process ethylene into high density polyethylene and normal alpha olefin products as well as construct a pipeline to transport the ethylene to the petrochemical facility. About US$263 million is to be acquired by the Q Chem II Project from the Royal Bank of Scotland for which the Export-Import Bank is to be the guarantor. A consortium of private banks also will contribute financing to the project.
The equipment and engineering services for the project are to be supplied by Technip USA Corp. of Claremont, Calif., and Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LP of the Woodlands, Texas.
