Resin price hike to be announced by Japanese petrochem makers

Yet another round of petrochemical price hike- the fifth since early 2004, is being considered by Japanese petrochem makers to counterbalance rising crude oil costs Japanese petrochemical producers plan to raise polyethylene and polypropylene prices to the tune of 10-15 pct price hikes, or 15-20 yen per kg. Prime Polymer Co., Nippon Unicar Co., Mitsui Chemicals Inc and Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd. could be the majors weighing price increases.
