RIL takes Jamnagar PP plant off steam for 4 week maintenance

31-Oct-08
India's Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Asia's leading producer of polypropylene, has opted for a four week shut down at its Jamnagar-based polypropylene plant in Gujarat. The reason for shut down is usual maintenance, repair and turnaround activities. However, the remaining units at RIL's Jamnagar refinery are operating at normal outputs and the deliveries to the customers will be unaffected by the maintenance close down. Lately, the Asian region has seen a major slump in polypropylene demand which is being linked by some sources as the reason behind the four week close down.
