SABIC’s 400,000 tpa LDPE plant at Wilton scheduled to start up in September

19-Aug-09
Sabic’s 400,000 tpa LDPE plant, the world’s largest, at Wilton, Teesside is scheduled to start production in September. Full capacity is expected to be reached during 2010. The delayed LDPE plant, owned by Huntsman until Sabic’s takeover, had an original start-up date of Q4-2007, and was postponed until February 2008. This delay was caused by delays to construction work which eventually began in 2006, and will be completed at an investment outlay of £250 mln (US$407 mln).
