Shell has appointed Mitsubishi Chemical Engineering and Foster Wheeler Energy as the design engineers of its 750,000 tpa Mono-Ethylene Glycol (MEG) plant, to be located at the Singapore Petrochemical Complex on Jurong Island. The new MEG plant will use feedstock from Shell's proposed world-scale ethylene cracker located on neighbouring Bukom Island, scheduled for completion in 2009.
Foster Wheeler is likely to provide engineering, procurement and construction management for the next stage of the investment and to design the modifications to its Bukom refinery, which will allow integration of the ethylene cracker complex to the refinery.
