Shell’s second OMEGA process plant starts up

The world’s second plant to license the Shell Global Solutions OMEGA (Only Mono-Ethylene Glycol Advanced) process has successfully started up in Saudi Arabia. With a capacity to produce 600,000 tpa MEG, the plant is owned by Petro Rabigh and is part of a state-of-the-art mega refining and petrochemical complex. Lotte Daesan's mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) plant in Korea to be started in May 2008 was the first OMEGA plant to come onstream. The next OMEGA plant due to come onstream is a 750,000 tpa Shell Eastern Petrochemicals Complex in Singapore in 2009/2010.
