SIBUR awards contract to Fluor to build propylene and polypropylene plant

Fluor Company has awarded a project management contract to SIBUR Holding JSC for the construction of a new propylene and polypropylene plant in Tobolsk. Along with Fluor, SIBUR experts will form a project group, design detailed project documentation, and find the best solutions and innovative techniques as well as their contractors. Tender documentation for design work, materials supply and construction is soon to be prepared. A final decision regarding project implementation is likely to be taken in H1-2007. Construction of the polypropylene plant with an estimated capacity of 450,000-500,000 tons, is estimated to commence in 2007, and the new plant projected to come onstream in H2-2010. Investment outlay is projected at US$750 mln. Geographical proximity to raw material sources and availability of spare infrastructure capacity of existing SIBUR plant were the reasons for location of the new production site.
