Prices of Asian styrenics, which include styrene monomer, polystyrene and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, looks set to down adjust in the next few weeks as per Platts. This drop could occur as sentiment turns bearish on signs of increasing supply of feedstock SM, along with rising resistance from downstream buyers. The adjustment is likely to be on a larger scale in the omestic market in China than with the US dollar market.
The polypropylene and polyethylene markets in China has also witnessed a fall at this start of the week on what market sources said was a technical correction after five weeks of sustained gains.
