UK-based Electronic Waste Company (EWC) and consumer electronics giant, Sony have inked a one year deal to recycle around 300,000 discarded PlayStation consoles and convert them into user friendly consumer products. The deal encompasses machines from the whole of Europe and is expected to include a total of 250 tons of plastics by weight. This emphasizes Sony's commitment for a cleaner environment by recycling the electronics waste which would otherwise occupy the landfills.
The EWC has a well respected track record with regards to dismantling and recycling electronic machinery, some from government health companies, local authorities and schools and turning them into renewable sources, helped by a recent investment in new technology to deal with ever increasingly complex items.
