Technip has signed a contract with Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) for the construction of 1.3 million mta of ethylene and 400,000 mta of propylene production plant at the Yansab Complex in Yanbu Industrial City, on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia.
The Technip contract covers basic and detail engineering, procurement and supply of materials, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and training of the owner's personnel for the project, scheduled for completion in April 2008. The plant will be based on Technip's in-house technology and the proprietary SMK cracking furnaces, to handle both ethane and propane feedstocks, will be provided by Technip Benelux.
