Thailand's PTT Chemical PCL, one of Asia's largest ethylene makers has scheduled a maintenance shutdown of two of its plants in Q4 of 2006. The company will undergo expansion to increase ethylene production capacity by 130,000 tpa. An investment outlay of US$120 million has been earmarked for maintenance and expansion and is expected to be completed in the beginning of 2007.
The shutdown will also affect the additional propylene production capacity of 60,000 tpa implemented in July. Current production capacity for olefins products pa stands at 1.523 million tons, consisting of 1.146 million tons of ethylene and 377,000 tons of propylene.
