Huntsman Corp. has agreed to sell assets from its U.S. butadiene and MTBE business to Texas Petrochemicals L.P. for US$269 million. Included in the sale is the manufacturing facility in Port Neches, Texas, which has a capacity of about 900 million pounds a year of butadiene, and about 11,000 bpd of MTBE. Huntsman's PO/MTBE and Oxides/Olefins facilities in Port Neches and in Arthur, are not included in the sale. Huntsman gained ownership of the butadiene and MTBE business when it acquired Texaco Chemical Co. in 1994.
