Total Petrochemicals France has embarked on the process of restarting its steam cracker at Carling-Saint Avold, shut since an explosion in July. Only the undamaged unit of the two at the site will be in operation. Operations will resume at full hilt by mid-December with. The second unit is expected to be brought back into service in April 2010 when the facility will return to normal operations. The plant produces 170,000 tpa of PE and 180,000 tpa of PS using naphtha as feedstock.
