Europe’s propylene market, currently faced with multiple cracker shutdowns and better-than-expected demand will be further impacted with the shutdown of Total’s Dunkirk refinery in France. Total had decided to halt production at the refinery - including a 90,000 tpa propylene plant from mid-September due to weak fuel demand. The start up will be scheduled when market conditions improve. This is a surprise move as in current scenario, propylene supply is stretched amid improving demand.
