Uhde Inventa-Fischer AG (UIF), one of the world's leading specialists for engineering of polycondensation plants, has completed an agreement with FRX Polymers, Inc (USA) to build and operate a pilot plant at UIF's Domat/Ems Switzerland facility. The cooperation is targeted to make use of UIF's unique position in the field of melt-phase polycondensation technology and the availability of a pilot plant facility. It will allow FRX to quickly achieve commercial scale for its line of patented polyphosphonate homopolymers and copolymers.
The agreement with FRX will support the strategy of UIF to stay on top of new developments in the field of next generation polymers using polycondensation technology, and it will enable FRX to increase its ability to provide high quality samples to its industrial partners. Currently, FRX produces the polymers at its pilot plant located in Chelmsford, MA. The company boasts of over five years of intensive research and development in the field of inherently flame retardant plastics and its mission is to commercialize a novel family of non-halogen, transparent, high melt flowing, fire resistant plastics.
