Petrochemical projects with EIA approval get nod to proceed in Rayong

11-May-09
Petrochemical projects in Rayong that have passed an environmental impact assessment (EIA) can move ahead with their investment, since a new pollution-reduction plan is not expected to affect them. However, projects awaiting EIA approval will need to be delayed until the pollution-reduction plan is completed. The NEB designated Map Ta Phut and other parts of Rayong province as a pollution-control zone on April 30. The pollution-reduction plan is being formulated by Rayong's provincial officials and local communities in collaboration with public agencies such as the Pollution Control Department and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand.
