Williams Olefins declares force majeure on ethylene after explosion

Williams Olefins has declared force majeure on ethylene supplies out of its Geismar, Louisiana, olefins complex that was impacted by an explosion and fire, as per market sources in Platts, who also opined that only a 40% allocation of originally contracted ethylene volumes will be available for June under the force majeure. Thursday’s explosion and fire at Geismar injured 73 and killed one person.
