As per a contract with Blue Star New Chemical Materials Co. Ltd., Frankfurt based Zimmer AG, is to supply a polyester polycondensation plant producing polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). Zimmer will provide technology and equipment for the plant as well as supervision of construction and start-up. The plant, due to go on-stream in Q3 2007, will be built in Nantong and will be based on Zimmer's proven continuous low-pressure process. The PBT plant is designed to produce 200 tons polymer per day, terephthalic acid (PTA) and 1.4 butanediol as feedstock.
