Xinjiang Zhongtai Chemical Co, with a current PVC capacity of 140,000 tpa, is to start up a new PVC unit with a capacity of 600,000 tpa in April. Initially, the plant is to run at 20% capacity, which will increase to 98% by 2009. The new unit in northwest China Xinjiang Ugyur Autonomous Region is to be carbide based will switch to ethylene based technology in the coming years. Most of the feedstock will be produced by the company, with a minor portion to be bought from neighboring Gansu Province.
