BASF has shut down it’s second European steam cracker after a blaze broke out at the smaller of its two ethylene crackers in Ludwigshafen broke out. The fire has been doused and no injuries have been reported. This is the second shutdown due to fire at BASF’s European facilities- the first was reported earlier this week at Antwerp. This shutdown leaves the German chemical company with one operational cracker in its home region. The Antwerp unit is expected to restart early next month.
