Alfa Laval has received a SEK 45 million order for plate heat exchangers from a joint venture between BASF and The Dow Chemical Company for use in a new petrochemical plant in Antwerp, Belgium. The plant in Antwerp will be the first in the world based on the HPPO (hydrogen peroxide to propylene oxide) technology. The companies are looking into setting up additional plants in Asia and USA using this new technology.
The plant will produce propylene oxide, used in manufacturing of polyurethane, propylene glycol, chemical intermediates and textile surfactants.
