A key focus at Basell is to operate world-scale polypropylene plants utilising one of the company's proprietary manufacturing technologies, the Spheripol and Spherizone processes. A close monitoring of all manufacturing assets ensures alignment with current as well as future supply/demand balances by Basell. As part of an ongoing review of its' manufacturing assets to assess long-term viability, Basell plans to close its 260,000 tpa LIPP polypropylene technology plant in Pernis, The Netherlands by the middle of 2007.
