BASF inaugurates integrated isocyanates complex in China

The US$1 bln integrated isocyanates complex at Shanghai between BASF, Huntsman and three Chinese partners (Shanghai Hua Yi Group, Sinopec Shanghai Gao Qiao Petrochemical Corporation and Shanghai Chloro-Alkali Chemical Co. Ltd.) has been inaugurated. The complex at Shanghai Chemical Industry Park has a capacity of 240,000 tpa of crude MDI and 160,000 tpa of TDI, and is the second largest investment by BASF in China. Robust demand in China for polyurethanes, estimated to grow at 10% pa up to 2015 will be satiated by the output from this plant.
