Mitsubishi Chem to shut Kashima naphtha cracker

Japan's largest petrochemical maker, Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp., plans to shut a naphtha cracker at its Kashima plant in eastern Japan for 10-20 days. Due to technical problems, Mitsubishi Chemical will suspend operations of the No.1 cracker, with a capacity of 375,000 tpa of ethylene. Mitsubishi's 603,000 tpa naphtha cracker at the Kashima plant will operate normally during the shutdown at the No.1 unit.
