As a result of the global economic crisis, BASF Group's polyurethane subsidiary, Elastogran has decided not to participate in this year's UTECH - the most important polyurethane trade fair in Europe - in favour of providing 'individual solutions' by direct customer contacts, a company statement said. In addition, participation in the JEC Composite (Paris) trade fair was abandoned in addition to the UTECH.
Dr. Uwe Hartwig, Elastogran Managing Director said, "In this historically extreme situation we wish to concentrate fully on working the market geared consistently towards the present needs of our customers. Although trade fairs are worthwhile in principle, at the moment we would increasingly like to use our sales team to develop the individual solutions required for the current situation through direct customer contacts." Hartwig emphasised: "We gave great consideration to the cancellation, and it was not just carried out for reasons of economy alone."
