BASF will increase its margin for setting the price of polystyrene in Europe, starting with 50 euros per metric ton, with effect from July 2006.
The term margin refers to the difference between the price of polystyrene and the price of its main feedstock, styrene. The margin has been adjusted due to the rise in the energy costs leading to high feedstock prices, rise in the freight costs and in the costs of auxiliaries and additives such as butadiene rubber and white mineral oil.
