A boiler failure has led to a large flare from the Shell Chemicals plant in Norco, causing the shutdown of a production unit. The boiler's failure on Wednesday occurred when another boiler was being repaired.
The boiler, which provides steam for plant operations, caused a shutdown of the olefins unit, which produces ethylene.
