State-owned Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) plans to raise capacity at its just-commissioned Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh to 9 mln tons-a process that may take up to three years and may cost about Rs 2,000 crore. BPCL is looking at the right time for a public offering of the unit, as per Asia Pulse Pte Ltd. The 6 mln tpa unit was commissioned in January 2011 and will be formally inaugurated by the Prime Minister on May 20.
The Bina refinery has a 1 mln tpa capacity naphtha hydrotreater, half a mln ton continuous catalyst reformer, 1.95 mln ton hydrocracker, a 1.63 mln ton diesel hydrotreater and a 1.36 mln ton delayed coker.
