China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has launched construction of a deep catalytic cracking (DCC) project with an investment of 50 bln yuan in South China's Hainan province. Scheduled to be complete in May 2011, the project is planned to produce propylene, liquified petroleum gas (LPG), methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) and naphtha. It is based on the province's rich oil and natural gas resources, follows the principle of clean production, circular economy and green chemicals.
