Dow Chemical Co. currently operates 5 business centers and 10 manufacturing sites in China. The company's revenue in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan amounted to US$2.2 billion in 2004. China is currently Dow Chemical Co's third-largest market, lagging behind U.S.A and Germany. Dow has plans to further expand investment in China to tap the country's growing market. China will continue to be a net chemical importer for the next few decades, with a favourable supply-demand balance in the near future. Dow also plans to establish a new research and development center in China, along with information technology facilities.
Dow has already invested over US$500 million in China, and is looking at a possible additional investment at its existing Zhangjiagang site in Jiangsu province, where it operates three plants producing latex, epoxy and polystyrene.
