ExxonMobil has shuttered several petrochemical units at Singapore Chemical Plant (SCP) for planned maintenance turnaround for about two months. However, the units that have been shut are not known.
SCP is integrated with Exxonmobil's 605,000 bpd refinery at Jurong Island and comprises of an aromatics unit (SAR), with capacity to produce 190,000 tpa benzene, 420,000 tpa paraxylene and 35,000 bpd of reformate. Along with this unit, ExxonMobil also operates the Jurong Aromatics Plant with capacity to produce 400,000 tpa paraxylene, 300,000 tpa benzene, 250,000 tpa cyclohexane, 200,000 tpa orthoxylene and 180,000 tpa toluene.
Turnaround at the SAR unit that supplies benzene to Japan's Mitsui Phenols Singapore coincides with Mitsui Phenols' planned shutdown by mid-May for 35 days.
Benzene and ethylene are also supplied to BASF and Shell's 550,000 tpa styrene plant in Singapore, expected to be shut in May for maintenance.
